Final Year Project
Project Title
Social Capital and Market Failure
Description
Young adults living independently are socially and economically displaced from the rental market. My aim of the research is to explore the market failure i.e. how the real estate market in Karachi malfunctions due to mistrust placed on young adults. I want to explore the structure of conservative societies and how, through social capital, young adults have managed to navigate within structures that don't recognize them as a legitimate market for independent housing. The goal is to explore how conservatism is the source of how market functions and how social capital has been an effective tool for young adults to navigate within structures that are inherently discriminatory towards them.
